What is Central Web Hosting?
Central web hosting is the fully supported, reliable, scalable and regularly updated hosting service provided by the Digital Innovation team. Central web hosting is available to QUT organisational units for websites used to carry out QUT business.

- Sets up access and accounts
- Makes your site live
- Provides ongoing website support
- Offers web development training courses
Hosting features:
- Apache server
- Our web server is Apache based. Apache is the most used HTTP server on the web.
- JSP
- JSP, which the QUT template uses, is the main supported technology. It provides a simplified, fast way to create dynamic web content.
- PHP
- PHP is available, however any departure from the QUT Web Template should be discussed with Web Services. Find out more about scripting or contact Web Services.
- MySQL database hosting
- MySQL database hosting is available for dynamic sites.
- Soupermail form mailer
- Soupermail is available on request for handling email forms.
- Authentication
- QUT is migrating to the new Enterprise Sign-on Engine (ESOE) which will provide single sign-on across all QUT web applications. QUT also still supports the old authentication mechanism, JAuth. Find out more about authentication on the Web Manual.
- Custom URL
- Each QUT site has a 'qut.edu.au' URL. Non-QUT domain names must be approved, according to the domain name policy.
