What is Search Engine Marketing?
Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is used to promote websites by increasing their visibility in search engine result pages.
Search engine marketing methods:
- Paid placement
- Sponsored link advertisements are search results that generally appear above or adjacent to 'natural' or 'organic' results when someone does a search. The advertiser pays on a 'per click' basis. Google AdWords is an example of a pay-per-click provider.
- Search-based advertising
- Search-based advertising systems return graphical or text-only ads to the search results page which corresponds to the keywords of a search. As the advertisements are more targeted to what the user is interested in, they are more likely to be clicked.
- Online display advertising
- Online display ads are graphic and multimedia ads in fixed locations on a page which are used primarily for branding and promotion.
